KEY RESULTS
The key results of the project are focused on improved awareness and capacity of the target beneficiaries regarding climate change impacts on aquatic ecosystems and fisheries-dependent communities and for appropriate adaptation at various levels with the following indicative results:
BACKGROUND
The Fisheries Sector is vital for the future well-being of Cambodia, both in securing sufficient food for the population and to ensure the livelihoods of those who depend on it for their income. It is also clear that climate change will impact on the Fisheries Sector, as it will do on all others. Although studies have indicated that Cambodia’s Fisheries are vulnerable to the effects of climate change, no clear strategy or plans have yet been formulated to adapt to the changes expected.
The activities of the project are undertaken to address capacity gaps within FiA and also expand its efforts for raising general awareness in key stakeholder groups in the fisheries sector regarding climate change impacts, as well as the urgent need for appropriate, and concerted response sector-wide.
